Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans (and the religiously narrow minded) that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. 1 Peter 2:11, 12 (That in parenthesis added by me!)
Living Christian
– Devotions in the Letters from Peter
They’re going to try to beat you up… pick you apart… convince you that you aren’t who and what you say you are.
All the while, you’ll do your best to live Christian.
In the end, it won’t be who you know, or what you say. It won’t be what scripture you quote or what argument style you use to convince them.
It won’t be your denomination, or your religion. Your traditions won’t help you. Your glass beads and your three-piece suit won’t enlighten them, or convince them of who you belong to.
It will be how well you do Christian.
