Small Groups Ministry

It's easy to get lost in a crowd, even though you may be surrounded by worshipers on a given Sunday. That's why Imago Dei Metropolitan Community Church has Small Groups. We want everyone to have the opportunity to be known and cared for and to find your niche. You can connect in a caring, interactive group where you can feel free to ask your real questions and sense the support of the group.

Past and current groups include Learning to Love, Discipleship, Spiritual Refreshment, Conflict in the Bible, Hope Under Construction, the Faith of Outsiders, and Stewardship for Living!

"As iron sharpens iron, a friend sharpens a friend."
Proverbs 27:17

“Our Community” Small Groups

If you're new to Imago Dei MCC, we encourage you to join us in one of these groups.  They are a great opportunity to meet some folks, ask some questions, talk to an existing member or two or think about next steps.  Click here for more information on these groups.

Support Small Groups

Troubles test our faith. Not only do they test it, but also exercise it, helping it to grow. We know how exercise works with the physical body. As we exercise, the resistance of the weight causes the muscles to stretch to their limits. They get torn down, and in the process of their recovery, their size and strength increases. The next time, they are able to easily withstand that same resistance, and even more, as the process is practiced over and over again. That is how muscle size and physical strength are increased. If the body is receiving a proper diet, with exercise, it will grow stronger.

These real-life trials, and real-life tribulations, have the potential to cause significant trauma in our lives.  God has placed a measure of faith in each of us, enough to enable us to reach out in response to God’s call. God has given us what we need to get right. If we utilize the measure of faith God has placed with-in, it will be like a seed that begins to grow. And as we feed it with God’s truth, and exercise it with life’s trials, it will grow.  Click here for more information on these groups.

“Sharing from the Heart” Small Groups

At IDMCC, we encourage one another to develop or renew the practice of regularly reflecting on God's love for us as reflected in the goodness of our lives. With a sure sense of our blessings in mind we are encouraged to make gratitude the fundamental motive for our sharing.  Somewhere in the journey of faith a transition happens. Somewhere, somehow as Christians we find ourselves moving away from “serve-us” to “service”. Where the church is no longer a place we go “to be served” but “to serve”.

"Sharing from the Heart" groups are Covent Groups. The group creates its own covenant, which is designed to help the members grow in their faith and to encourage them to reflect their faith in their lifestyle. The covenant usually includes a list of activities in the areas of compassion, justice, worship, and devotion that the participants will strive toward in their thoughts and actions throughout the week. We recommend attending “Spiritual Well Being” small groups before attending "Sharing from the Heart" groups.
